Coohom's **[floor planner](https://www.coohom.com/case/floor-planner)** supports uploading CAD floor drawings to automatically identify and generate walls, doors and windows. This article will explain in detail the requirements and possible problems of importing CAD floor plan files, and importing files according to the requirements will have a better identification of the drawing effect and improve the design efficiency.

**For Users:****All Coohom interior designers**

Use a Supported File Format
===========================

The supported formats are only **dwg/ dxf files drawn by autoCAD software**. Please do not use other software.

Keep the File Size Within a Reasonable Range
============================================

**There is no size limit** for the currently imported file.

* **⭐** **Tips:** Although there is no limit to the file size, we recommend that you reduce the file size as much as possible before importing, and **the recommended drawing size is less than 10MB, preferably no more than 30MB**. Excessively large files not only cannot guarantee the identification effect, but also may fail to import and identify, which will increase the identification time and affect work efficiency.

**About the solution to reduce the file size:**

* In the case of a complete set of drawings, find the structural floor plan, copy it to a new empty CAD file, save it and use it for identification.
* If it is a single complex drawing, delete or hide other irrelevant information in the drawing except for walls, doors and windows before identification.

Use Correct Drawing Units
=========================

Drawings drawn in units of **\[mm\], \[m\], \[ft\], and \[inch\]** are supported, and the units in CAD are automatically detected when imported, and you can also confirm them twice in the import pop-up window.

* **Note: If your drawing unit is not \[mm\]/\[m\]/\[ft\]/\[inch\], you can use the "SC" command to scale the drawing to a recognizable unit size and then use it for identification.**
* **⭐Tips:****It is recommended to import drawings in \[mm\] to make them easier to identify!** As for the easy way to determine whether it is a\[mm\] unit, use the annotation tool to measure the width of the wall, if it is around 240, it means that the unit is \[mm\], which is in accordance with the requirements. If it is about 24, it means that the unit is \[cm\], and you need to enlarge the drawing 10 times before importing.

Draw in Model Space
===================

Only drawings drawn in **model space** are supported, and **all information drawn in layout space cannot be accurately identified**.

**About the solution to the inaccurate identification of drawings drawn in the layout space：**

* Find the structure floor plan in the layout, double-click the layout window to enter the editing mode, copy it to the newly created empty CAD file, save it and then use it for identification.

Keep the Floor Plan Size Within a Reasonable Range
==================================================

* Please ensure that **the size of the floor plan outline frame is greater than 2.5mX2.5m**, otherwise it will be considered non-floor plan drawings and will not be identified.
* Import CAD files, **the maximum size currently supported is 120000mm\*120000mm**. If it exceeds this range, an error will be reported.
* When recognizing CAD drawings, the number of elements that can be supported varies according to the scenarios -- **in home decoration scenarios, the maximum number of elements is 105,000** ; **in industrial decoration scenarios, the maximum number of elements is 200,000**, and exceeding this number will result in recognition exceptions.

Draw Walls, Doors, and Windows Correctly
========================================

Support the identification of walls, doors and windows that meet the drawing requirements, the specific requirements are as follows:

* The wall should be drawn in two lines, and the width should be in the range of 50-400mm.
* Single and double doors support common rectangular + arc drawing methods, and arcs represent the direction of the door opening.
* The sliding door supports the staggered drawing method of 2/3/4 fans, but the wall projection lines need to be drawn on both sides. That is, two parallel straight lines of equal length surround two or more rectangles.
* The window supports linear window drawn by 3/4 lines.

**Note: All rooms in the imported CAD file should be closed areas. The above components must be drawn to ensure that the lines are complete and not missing. Local unclosed lines will also affect the recognition effect.**

Supported Furniture Symbols
===========================

**The following common legends for furniture are supported for recognition:**

* bed
* sofa
* dining table
* toilet

**⭐** **Tips:** If you don't need to identify furniture, **be sure to delete or hide all furniture information**, which can greatly improve the accuracy of wall recognition.

Remove Unnecessary Interference
===============================

The main purpose of CAD recognition is to quickly restore the walls, doors and windows of the floor plan, and the cleaner the other information, the better the recognition effect.

**Please delete or hide the following common distracting information as much as possible:**

* various types of dimensions
* decorative moldings on wall surfaces
* bathroom interior finish
* lamp
* water and electricity lines
* car
* tree
* furniture

**⭐Tips:** If there is a CAD file that looks like there is no problem but cannot be imported successfully, **you can try copying it to the newly created empty CAD file and recognize it again after saving!**

FAQ
===

The following are two typical problem scenarios and solutions.

No Valid Floor Plan Detected
----------------------------

**Problem Scenario：**

* The wall width is less than 50mm and the size of the floor plan outline frame is less than 2.5mX2.5m. It will be considered non-floor plan drawings that cannot be recognized.

![](//qhstatic-sg-s3.coohom.com/image/png/1745488891545/A8CEBABD0663ECBAEEE7516DF7A7D2B5.png)

**Solution：**

* The walls need to be drawn in two lines, with a width of **50-400mm** , to expand the overall frame size, and the drawings can also be scaled to a recognizable unit size through the **"SC" command** for identification.
